About the role
FutureGov is seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to join our team. Over the last 10 years, FutureGov has delivered a range of transformational projects with governments across the world.
We've designed and built a range of digital prototypes and have successfully scaled user-centred products. Your work at FutureGov will make a lasting impact on citizens’ experience of interacting with public services.
Developers are responsible for building, maintaining and supporting new and existing web applications. You'll work closely with delivery managers and teams to decide what to build, and with front-end developers and designers to design and deliver beautiful and usable solutions. You'll work at all stages of a project, from technical input into discovery work, development of alpha products to test and learn from, through to production ready code that is ready to scale to support live products and services.
At least 5 years expeience in at lease one general purpose programming language
Experience in developing web applications using Ruby on Rails
Knowledge of at least one database application (preferably PostgreSQL)
An understanding of CSS and HTML
Experience hosting and running web application on Heroku
Familiarity with Continuous Integration services such as CircleCI, Travis etc
Use of test-driven (e.g. Rspec) and/or behaviour-driven development (e.g. Cucumber) practices
Work with version control systems, preferably Git
At least a working knowledge of Unix based operating systems like Linux and/or OSX
Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Work at pace using agile methods in technical and complex environments
The ability to confidently communicate work to others
